My mom got put into the hospital again last Friday- after about a week of unexplained pain and unsteadiness, she eventually lost the ability to even walk on her own. After a few days, we finally heard back from the doctor, and it turns out she has leukemia again (to quote the doctor (seriously): "lots of leukemia"). Suffice to say this is not the best news. Between this and other real-life stuff (work, moving, etc.) I have no idea how often I can be online/write. Really sorry I can't be more active, and especially sorry to the people that were noting me earlier. Hope you understand.
UPDATE: Past two days haven't been great. The one car my family has broke down before we were able to visit my mom in the hospital, and we are for sure being forced out of our home by August 18. When it rains, it fucking pours.
I'll be spending the next two weeks packing and cleaning the house before moving out, meaning I'll have close to zero downtime. Anyone who's ever had to move before knows it's one of the most exhausting things you can do, especially in a short amount of time. On top of that, we don't for certain have a place to move to- I doubt we'll end up on the streets, we have enough friends and allies in Real Life that they won't let us live out of our car or anything, but it's one of my worst fears to not have a place of my own to live.
There is a certain house we've come across that might just be perfect for us, if we can come up with $3,000 for security deposit and first month's rent. (We're going to need at least $3000 for anywhere we move anyway.) I'm absolutely loathe to ask for money, but I may have to resort to taking donations very soon. I'm trying to think of things I can do in return for donations (I'd offer stories, but HA, I can't even finish ones I've already been paid for) but I am sadly very incompetent in almost all things. I'll figure out something hopefully (I'll probably post a new journal about that soon), and in the meantime, if anyone feels like helping me not be homeless, feel free to note me and we'll work out something, and I'll thank you profusely.
