The holographic view screen cast a bright, bluish-white light around the dim cockpit, illuminating Alex Varner’s face. The pilot and lone crewmember of the “Sparrow” held her head in her hand, a frown forming on her face. She thought she could avoid that topic for once, but, as with most of her calls back home, her mom just couldn’t resist bringing it up.
“Mom, I’m not alone out here,” she sighed. “It’s not like I coop myself up in this ship whenever I head back to station.”

Samus’s mission to Planet ZRT-146 had not gone according to plan. What had been pitched to her as a simple survey mission quickly escalated when a contingent of Space Pirates had attacked her ship as she approached the planet. While she had fought valiantly against the Pirates, sending several of their ships planet-side, the sheer number of enemies made the struggle futile. After taking several direct hits, Samus’s ship was sent careening toward Planet ZRT-146. Wrestling with the controls, she managed to avoid crashing her ship into a billion pieces and instead got it stuck in the thick, gray canopy of a swampy region.

An idea requested by
a while back that I thought would work for Halloween before I remembered I don't like Halloween. (No, really. Fuck Halloween.) But hey, I said I'd post something in October, and I did! Unless you live in Australia or something, like a douche.
Semi proud of this. I got it done quicker than I usually do; started writing on Sunday, just finished today. The ending, I was kind of on the fence about, me and Stupidium argued about it a little bit (nothing serious, he shoved me down a five story flight of stairs, breaking every bone in my body, we're still on good terms) but I think we both ended up being okay with the ending. Oh, also: it's fucking hard to draw eyes transforming. I must be wary of that if I ever do an insect TF like this again.
Anyhow, I wrote something most of my watchers aren't interested in, that's good, alright then.
